Thanks to Dave for organising last night's sidewalk and all who came and helped out!

Clearest Saturn since the haze started. Saw a few star clusters too. As usual, crowd was amazed by Saturn through the telescopes. Some deliberately stayed late to observe Moon rise near midnight. They were rewarded with spectacular views of the half-lit Moon.

A young man came all the way from the north for the event. Using Dave's C6 on AZ mount, I had a good time convincing him that manual telescope system is not that difficult to learn/use. He had fun with the hands-on learning.

Happy to see Pluto through Mystiq's telescope! Thanks to the accurate GOTO function.

Thanks to Dave for organising yet another successful sidewalk session and all who came. Crowd enjoy the views thru Dave's 80mm f/5 refractor and Mystiq's SkyProdigy.

Had fun checking out a new Celestron UpClose 10x50 (7 deg fov!) binocular from Desmond which I am able to focus with and without glasses. Well factory-collimated, good eye relief and on-axis sharpness. Slight barrel distortion. A bit shaky for my weak arms.

Venus was very glaring and lots of CA in the 80mm achro. Much better after adding a ND filter.

Spotted -7 Iridium flare as a group. My first at Bishan Park.

Glad to befriend an enthusiast from Malaysia on a business trip.

Highlight of the evening for me was interacting with a Japanese family. Mystiq got her first live experience of the Japanese version of "oh my god! is this real? wow!". :) The girl was really keen to learn more about astronomy and was paying very close attention to every single word I said. Very impress with her attention span considering most kids today are very impatient. She manage to detect the tail of Scorpius in the sky (despite the nearby bright Moon) before my laser pointer even reach there. Asked me to come back again today so that she can bring her astronomy book in Japanese and explain the concepts written inside! :)

As usual, had fun explaining (poisoning) Mystiq with some of my eyepieces while explaining the concept of afov/tfov. :)

Nice picture of the moon you took there, Gary. Glad you found the bino useful. It was a fun session meeting new people and learning new things. Will certainly join the Bishan Park OB-site again. :P
Clear skies~
