M8 Lagoon Nebula and surroundings

Post by rifleman175 »

This is the first light image of my newly acquired Esprit 100ED apo refractor scope taken over 3 nights. Personally I am very satisfied with the end results after some light processing in PixInsight, and this is easily one of the best astrophotos I have ever taken. I like the deep blues in the core of the Lagoon Nebula, truly giving it the looks of a blue lagoon in the belt of the Milky Way, alongside the emission and reflection nebula to its east (right side) that looks like a paw in my imagination.

Image

Target: Lagoon Nebula (M8), IC 4685
Imaging Telescope: Skywatcher Esprit 100ED with flattener
Imaging Camera: ASI2600MM

Total Exposure: 45x 5min Ha, 43x 5 min SII, 47x 5min OIII (11.25h overall)
Camera Settings: Gain 100 at -5C

Image corrected with Darks, Bias and Flats

Enjoy!
