3D printing mounting rings

Wanna make a scope? Or better still, grind a mirror yourself. Or, you have some good tips in making a really useful accessory? This is the place to show what your hands can do...

3D printing mounting rings

Post by akdwivedi »

has someone tried 3D printing mounting rings for camera lenses like the samyang 135mm, canon 200mm or sigma 135mm lenses. I saw a plenty of videos about astrodymium, hyperpod, astrokraken (i hope I got it right), but the shipping etc is a bummber.

I have been thinking of getting a 3D printer for some time. would love to get some advice from some gurus here on our forums.

Do you have your own design? If so, you can try a local printing shop to save on shipping.

Another way is to use a parcel forwarding service like Vpost

there are certainly some designs available on thingiverse which can be adapted. but more importantly wanted to get some advice from local folks who do 3D printing, spool, printer model etc.

Depends on whether you actually want to do 3d printing as a hobby I guess... thought of buying too, but realised I just want to print occasional parts for astro, don't really want to spend time maintaining. I have been using 3dprintsingapore.com at toa payoh, user friendly website and good print quality.
