Hi people,
Here's my rendition of the eclipse sequence. The sequence could not be completed due to low lying clouds after totality and i was zombieified by then!

Hi Remus
Nice.....Just occurred to me, is the orange colour due to the morning sun?
Seems this red moon is consistent with pics taken all over the world.
wierd man...I've seen a "Red" moon as it rises in the evening but never a red moon at sunrise.

Hi,
I think the red colour moon is cause by the earth shine...sunlight reflected from the Earth onto the Moon.

Have a nice day.

I don't think it's earthshine, as the moon is in earth's shadow, so there should be no light reflecting off the earth onto the moon.

I'm not sure myself what causes the red, which by the way was really spectacular when i saw it myself May 4th. Maybe some light gets scattered by earth's atmosphere so that the earth from the moon is not totally dark, but is lit up at the edges?

The reddish effect on the moon is caused when the lights from the Sun passes through the Earth atmosphere. The atmosphere absorbs most of the lights in the blue spectrum, and reflecting the remaining red lights onto the surface of the moon.
