CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
Hi,
Correct... M42 is a Emission Nebula - a cloud that glows by absorbing and then re-emitting starlight from very hot, young stars nearby.
Anyway, please remember that you can only see a few nebula/galaxy with colours... that is because human eye is not sensitive enough to pick up colour of dim objects. So, don't expect to see colourful Nebula/galaxy, the colours only can pick up through long photographics exposure....
Have a nice day.

Use a normal DSLR camara with normal camera lens like 300mm or 600mm lens and shoot DSO. The result is "Tok-Kong". Wonder whether why we need a telescope :?
I think film has the best raw image(that does not need processing). Hmm but using digital camera ya maybe need lots of editing. Anyone care to enlighten?
