ETX astrophoto

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

ETX astrophoto

Post by fizzy123 »

I got some problems here. Wat is the difference between ccd cam n digi cam? They all use silicon chip rite? Wat is the advantage of ccd cam over digi cam?
Can the ETX do eps projection photography or can it only use prime focus photography?
Can the ETX do long exposure shots, considering it as periodic error?

yes..they are all mostly based on the ccd chip but i think some webcam use the cheaper but noiser cmos chips. digital camera simply takes the photos within the camera's controls. for a webcam, since they are designed to be connected to the pc, you get to see and process the video on your pc in real time. some software available on the pc is suitable for such work.

The ETX can do both. In fact, I have the T-apdater for connecting the ETX to a film camera.

While the ETX tracking can keep an object in the FOV for hours, it is not good enough for long duration exposure especially at high mag. I think the ETX can manage a few minutes before images degrade. For astro imaging work, you will need to polar align the ETX instead but then again, at F/12 or so, its not really suited for imaging.
