The original setup in Sg will see not stars but street and stray lights.

My biggest problem with the UC design (and the Hubble Optics Compact) is that the secondary mirror is located outside of the main assembly. This is going to make it very prone to dew in our climate. And with our very enthusiastic bunch of amateurs, public, kids, etc..someone is going to touch that mirror.bornfree wrote:The 15" UC Obsession

Tachyon still around/active? He owns a 15" Obsession, not UC but still amazing
I miss the place where stars shine bright, to gaze upwards in awe of the sight

Tachyon's Obsession has a big different, it uses Zambuto mirror. Ya, long time didn't hear from him.antares2063 wrote:Tachyon still around/active? He owns a 15" Obsession, not UC but still amazing

Thankfully with a 16" f/4.5, that secondary is out of reach for most kidsVinSnr wrote:My biggest problem with the UC design (and the Hubble Optics Compact) is that the secondary mirror is located outside of the main assembly. There are a few 15" class telescopes in Singapore and at least one 18" that I know about. These instruments really perform their best in darker skies and on average I think that at least one of these medium sized Dobs go up north during the montly astro trips.
