I just got my 8" newtonian and the mirror support springs are the famous weak ones.

You may try the second or third shop (can't remember clearly) away from the Yong Seng Screws branch at King George Avenue (http://www.ysscrews.com/Contact_Us.htm)
Bought some small/average size springs from that shop for my dob. Not sure if they sell tougher ones. Else, can shop along that stretch and ask.
