Where to go for Carbon Fiber Machining?

Wanna make a scope? Or better still, grind a mirror yourself. Or, you have some good tips in making a really useful accessory? This is the place to show what your hands can do...

Where to go for Carbon Fiber Machining?

Post by ariefm71 »

I need to drill some holes on my CF tubes, prefer not to do it myself since it's quite hazardous and i need a special drill bits for it. Anyone knows where I can go for some simple carbon fiber machining here?

thanks,

OK, found a shop in Bukit Batok that can do this. Now need a machinist that can make a pair of simple aluminum end rings to make the CF tubes rigid. Any suggestions?

Hi arief

wich diameter shall have the aluminium rings?
I have some rings could be machined in diameter between 160 and 200 mm inside. Max diameter outside is 215 mm.

Hi Herr Robert, thanks for the offer but I need 300mm OD rings for my 12" tubes. Just to clarify, I need the end rings (non-hinged) to be permanently bolted inside the tubes to make it rigid, not the tube rings for mounting purpose (already have a used pair made by ken's rings),.

cheers,

Hi arief
I understand. But if you will build inside these rings, your apperture will be smaller. So maybe it will be better to use some rings, you can mount outside the tube, to make it also rigid, or you must get someones are really small.
A friend had the same problem at his Newton, and he took some wood-rings and mount them outside the tube.
