Best digital camera below $600

Post by chrisyeo »

Hi

I'm planning to get a digital camera with the hope that it'll allow me to do some imaging. My budget is only $600 so the SLRs are out of reach.

What do you think the best camera out there for astro is at this price range?

I suppose you would want:
1. low noise
2. good light sensitivity
3. ability to take long exposure

Cheers,
Chris

Get Nikon Coolpix lor. There are plenty of adaptors in the market for the coolpix 4500 and 990 so you shouldn't have problem getting parts for them.

For low noise, don't think any digicam below 600 can give you that.

Hi Chris,
Agree with VinSnr, incidentally there are two Nikon Coolpix 995 for SGD$400 plus at the second-hand camera shop next to Cathay Photo at Peninsula Plaza. Also, I think the CP4500 is retailing for SGD$799 nowadays with some freebies included if you are lucky to find a good source. Harvey Norman is selling the CP4500 at this price. Check on their extended warranty option as well if you are really interested.
I am also currently on a hunt for a new digital camera at the moment....

Comments on Canon Pro 90 IS

Post by chrisyeo »

I'd like some help getting comments on the Canon Pro 90 for imaging.

I'm eyeing a second hand Canon Pro 90 IS selling for $450.
Specs: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canonpro90/

Would really appreciate some help in deciding.

It's got 10x optical zoom with stabilizer. 2.6 mp (I don't mind). Digi-T mount appears available for this model.

Thanks very much!
Chris
