will a PC-164 EX2 get close to a Mallincam?

Supercircuits is selling this PC-164 EX2 (0.00001 lux, Sony EXVIEW Super-HAD) for about $140 US. It's the latest generation PC-164 video camera.

I understand say the Mallincam Jr has a less sensitive lux rating but it does in-camera integration. But the Mallincam Jr is $500 US and the full-blown Mallincam Hyper is $1100 US.

Question is, what if I do my integration in software (e.g. capture the images using the PC-164 EX2 and stack them with Registax). Of course it won't be "real time" like the Mallincam but the cost is way lower.

Ideas?
