Just like you, I have just got into this hobby and bought a small celestron Nexstar 5SE.

The first thing I saw on my scope on aligning it was Jupiter and it's moons. Beautiful.

But since then it's been cloudy. Haha

Thank you for your explanation. I see.. the GOTO works based on the date, time and location and assumes a series of stars that night. Based on 3 stars, it will try to match a pattern within the system and then the system knows which stars are where.

Hi, The GOTO system had a database of the stars and the alignment process is basically to map the internal stars database to the actual stars. Hi, Base on Carl Zeiss recommendation on fungus prevention, RH of lower than 60% is safe. Anyway, don't set lower than 30%, it might dry up the lubrication in the lens/telescope focusing mechanism. But I am thinking what is the right humidity I should set? Is it medium? What humidity should I aim for?

I am putting my camera lens in that too. Should it be the same?
It currently reads around 45%
