I recently chance upon tis very good free computer star atlas known as Hallo Northern Sky planetarium programme at


www.hnsky.org


The programme allows users acess to a huge data base of stars from Yale's bright star catalog, Tycho1 & 2 catalog and also the SAO catalog. 1000 Minor planet and the entire NGC and IC catalog for DSO. There are also other catalogies less well known for the more experienced users tat specialize in variable star, double star, galaxies. The good thing is the atlas is in a modular style thus u can choose to download whichever catalog tat fits ur needs. :wink: :lol: 8)

Been using it for years, good software. I like the look and interface better than Cartes du Ciel
