Had anyone seen M1 in Singapore???

Post by weixing »

Hi,
I was just wondering had anyone seen M1 in Singapore?? If yes, what aperture you use, what magnification and any filter use?

Thanks and have a nice day.

Ah yes, M1 ... if I remember correctly, during one of our Singastro ob sessions a loooong time back, someone did mention something about having observed M1 from East Coast, with a 6" Reflector. That's all I remembered though.

Hi Weixing

I have seen at home and image it with LX90 at Dempsey. Under a less then ideal sky, it was dim fuzzy ( mag 8 ). Would not have seen it without goto, it took out a lot of guesswork. I feel that magnification is up to ones taste for this small object (Size between Ring and Dumbell). I dont think emmisson line filter helps very much here for supernovas remnants since they are comprise of broad emission spectrum. I might be wrong thou. For imaging it is a different story.

Cheers

Matthew

I have observed it in East Coast before, but can't remember whether i'm using a 6" or 8". It was rather easy to locate but averted vision is necessary.

seen it before using my previous Portaball 8" scope at Woodlands. Not too difficult to find with the Portaball, but need to know where to look.....
