New Image: Flame Nebula

Hi all,

Image from a night of great transparency last weekend (probably not as good as last night, but less moon).

The Flame nebula, right next to brilliant Alnitak in Orion. The horsehead is not in the view, being to the south, but I hope to image that and make a mosaic with this image the next chance I get.

As usual using my modded Canon EOS300D and C9.25. A trained PEC enabled 90s frames. Total exposure nearly 45 mins (29 x 90s).

I must commend this shot is a very well composed shot of NGC2024. The rich details is something i enjoy looking at.

So what next TG, The Horsy below it?
I would really look forward to B33 if it is in your imaging to do list.

After examining very closely, I notice a very thin stripe at the bottom left of the flame. Is this the "something"?

I must admit to being a bit at a loss when posting links...

I've tried pasting in the URL - but that sometimes results in the website opening in the Singastro site itself. I've used the paste URL function provided, and it seems to work when I preview and try it after I post, but others report that it doesn't work ... Help!

Anyway the line below left of the Flame is a satellite trail. If you are observing in Orion you will see many satellites passing through. Probably because it's at the celestial equator and a favoured orbit.

Next project is indeed the Horsehead.

vincent, he can't use the img tag because his host doesn't allow cross-server image linking, wasting their bandwidth. I can only suggest either TG upload the pictures onto our gallery or post as he usually do now.

hi tan quan,
I've been editing your posts to indicate the url that can be used to access your photos. to make it easier for me, perhaps you can simply include your web site on your signature. that way, people can then simply click on the link and you don't need to key it in all the time.
pretty amazing everyone except me spotted the line...I had to strain to see it before I realised I normally view the image with zero brightness on my display which is too dark for the details to be seen. heh heh
