Arief's 10-incher

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

What a beauty! Looks professionally made. The curved spider must have been quite a challenege to install?
Thanks cc, at least 50% of the credit must go to Kay heem, acquired the half-finished project from him. The upper cage and curved spider was designed by Kayheem

Rich, no need ladder la, the eyepiece height while pointing to zenith is only about 60".

From Photo 10inch-dob-3.JPG, it seems that the lowest altitude is about 10-20 deg. Am I correct? Is it difficult to find a target for aligning a finderscope at that altitude? BTW, nice job!!! Do you find a new mirror to mount on the dob? :)

hi Anat,

The side bearings are angled 30 deg relative to the mirror box, as per kriege & berry recommendation. I can probably put one more teflon at the center to enable the scope to reach lower altitudes. Aligning finderscope can use any altitude. I'm using a premium mirror from Mike Spooner. How's your dob project progressing?

Wow! Impressive! Finally we got to see your whole 10" scope... So, when will you be bringing it for 'field' test? how about this Friday at Changi?
