Hi YJ,
My relative bought me another shortwave radio not knowing I have already ordered one from overseas. It cost $28. I'll let it go for $22. I tested it and its not too bad for the price. Better than those $15 pasar malam type.
Model is Kaitec. Do let me know if you are interested.
In the meantime, I connected a wire to this baby (my other high end one conked on me and now has been sent overseas for one-to-one replacement!)
and manage to pull a few stations in inspite of me staying on a low floor.
I picked up a Vietnamese station the other day (or maybe Cambodian) teaching Chinese ( they call it Zhong Guo Hua)....cute...!
I can't imagine what I will get if I go out into the open!
Anyone picked up this hobby yet? complementary to astronomy you know...cloudy sky..listen to radio

that was fast!nF wrote:Got mine already, still trying to play around with it. good stuff haha
where did you buy yours? what brand is it?
Mediacorp broadcast at night in the 49m band. I find that you get the most strong signals if you try 49m and 25m. alot of indon stations on the 16m bands.
don't forget to get a length of wire as long as you can. solder a croco clip at
the end and use it to extend your antenna. place it outside your windows...
reception improves greatly!

US$5?? That's really cheap man! :k-crazy:
the shipping cost for my scope already more tha US$5!!
so what brand is it?
The higher end model I have is this one :

The more portable one I ordered is here :
http://www.radiointel.com/review-degende312.htm
The first one is actually a digital radio with a simulated analog dial.
The second one is smaller and is purely an analog radio. I think its single conversion only. Also, most of these simpler radios do not have 60m band or below. 60m bands and below are known as tropical bands as they work best around the equator, I think...

mmm..no one else interested in sharing their favourite sw stations?
so far I only managed voa, bbc, nhk....I caught a let's learn japanese programme on at the time but shucks...can't remember the frequency! sigh...
The 1103 is very sensitive and deserved the praises it's getting.
The smaller De312 can hold its own and proved to be quite good too...
That made my interim purchase redundant. If you want to join in the Dxing, I'l letting go my less-than-one-month old s/w radio with TV sound (Kaitec KS-1010) at $20 (bought $27). This one is just one grade better than the the pasar malam one and is nowhere near the other 2 I bought (of course they cost more too!). I bought it to listen while waiting for my repaired 1103 and newly purchased de312 to arrive...heh heh..do PM me if you are interested.
Yong Quan : So how, friend? Is your radio good??
