Only in hindsight, I realised that I totally forgot Saturn. Checked through each photo carefully, I only found two photos with Saturn in the frame --- albeit in both cases the planet sits right on th edge.
My astrophotography 2021
Re: My astrophotography 2021
Before I left the site around 11PM, I snapped a few shots of Jupiter+Moon over MBS.
Only in hindsight, I realised that I totally forgot Saturn. Checked through each photo carefully, I only found two photos with Saturn in the frame --- albeit in both cases the planet sits right on th edge.

2021-7-21 morning. A quick shot of the Moon-Jupiter conjunction.

No experience with MSM tracker. If you are shooting wide angle, I don't understand why trailing is present in 3-4s frames.joshua1189 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 9:20 amI am using a move shoot move tracker and an Olympus Pen as my set uphhzhang wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 9:15 amThanks.joshua1189 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 6:50 pm Amazing photos, i will like to ask how you do your polar alignment, i followed the Google maps method but i do get trailings when i shoot however the good news is that the trailing is very consistent irregardless of exposure time from 3-4s all the way to 60s in the length which puzzles me greatly
Can you give more details of your system? It sounds not like the trailing might not be primarily attributed to polar alignment error.
Do you use a remote shutter release -- or a timer?

I am using a medium telephoto of 85mm full frame equivalent.hhzhang wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 9:28 amNo experience with MSM tracker. For my tracker, make it face south and aligned everything to the south since we’re 1 degree north.
I use a wireless trigger via the Olympus app on my phone. The only variable is the wind from my living room but I’m not to sure how much can wind affect the set up.

I was shooting from a few vantage points on Esplanade Dr or on the adjacent Jubilee bridge. Did a little homework on Google maps and skymap before coming down.

Re: My astrophotography 2021
hmm. is it set to the correct rotation direction (south rather than north, i.e. CW vs CCW)? what's the primary direction of the star trail?joshua1189 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 12:23 pmI am using a medium telephoto of 85mm full frame equivalent.hhzhang wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 9:28 amNo experience with MSM tracker. Yup, set to south and It tend to trail south west.hhzhang wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 4:24 pmhmm. is it set to the correct rotation direction (south rather than north, i.e. CW vs CCW)? what's the primary direction of the star trail?joshua1189 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 12:23 pmI am using a medium telephoto of 85mm full frame equivalent.
