Hi all,
In lieu of the latest relaxation covid19 measures here https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapo ... 26-2641146, some of us have decided to come together to organize a local star party gathering for SINGASTRO enthusiasts. The site will be the big field next to Marina South Pier MRT Station. We last held the lunar eclipse event there few years back. This will be on 30th April Saturday, from 7pm onwards, weather permitting. As such, the details are:
Date: 30th April
Time: 7pm onwards
Venue: Big Field next to Marina South Pier MRT Station
Geographic Coordinates of Venue: 1.27154N, 103.86391E
All SINGASTRO enthusiasts, including newbies are welcomed. For veterans, do bring your instruments!!
Instruments to expect: Refractors (Skywatcher, Takahashi, Askar, etc), SCTs (Celestron, Meade), Dobs, etc.
Note: There will be a beautiful and surreal conjunction the following morning (1st May), consisting of Venus and Jupiter (less than 15-arcminutes from one another), together with Neptune, Mars, and Saturn, in the eastern sky at dawn. See illustration below. So you may like to stay up for it!

Advisory Notes:
1) Should there be unforeseen situational / policy changes, it is highly advisable to check this thread for updates. Also, will give a final green light of GO/NO-GO event status at 5pm on event day over here (if weather is really bad, we may consider the following day).
2) All equipment owners should spaced their instruments some reasonable distance apart from one another. This helps to ease viewing and movement without obstructing the immediate viewing vicinity from another equipment setup. This also acts as a "natural" social distancing measure.
3) There are toilets and rest areas at the MRT station as well as the Marina South Pier Building. There is a carpark available too, though limited spaces (come early!).
Looking forward to seeing everyone once again. It's been years!
Cheers,
Remus
