Recommendations for observation chair
Recommendations for observation chair
Hi.. looking for some recommendations for an observation chair.. I am mostly a visual astronomer and as such need a chair which can be lowered or raised during the observation session. There are few on US sites but by the time we add shipping they become quite expensive. Any local sellers where we can get an ergonomic chair without breaking the bank.

If you want to see the night sky, an SAF type Safari bed is an option. I used it at Mersing to look up to get a full view of the night sky

Safari bed.. Interesting will check. Can you adjust the height of those beds. I do have a zero gravity chair where I can recline and those come in handy with a binocular, but not much use with my alt az mount which requires some chair with adjustable height.
I did find some bar stools and maybe I will have to do away with one of those.

Decathlon chairs work fine for me. I currently am using this one.

thanks.. thats another interesting one.. will go to decathlon this weekend.
Please keep the recommendations coming. I would like to hear how other visual astronomers spend hours watching the skies secially because the targets move between the zenith to horizon.. an Adjustable chair, which is light and easy to transport/breakdown and still allows hours of comfortable sitting is what I am looking for..
Amazon singapore is selling this but the price is too high. https://www.amazon.sg/gp/product/B0052P ... BBXQ&psc=1

Re: Recommendations for observation chair
I currently use two foldable stools of different heights. Only gets me two fixed heights but I find it pretty alright.

Re: Recommendations for observation chair
The best and most simple one that I have seen is Tom Trusock's
observing chair here, where many varieties of chairs and recliners are available.
To see an image open the Photo galleries on Cloudy nights,
click on Equipment photos, and type chair in the search box.
I would put a link up, but I am as thick as the pig muck when it
comes to these things.
It looks extremely easy to D.I.Y.

Re: Recommendations for observation chair
recliners and gravity chairs are good for binoculars.. but when viewing using a telescope specially a long refractor like a skywatcher 100ed or 120ed, either you have to adjust height of tripod or get a chair whose height is adjustable. I have a zero gravity chair for bincular viewing but was interested in a chair whose height can be adjusted. Its easier to adjust the height of the chair than tripod.
