Amazing seeing condition

Post by acc »

Juz came back from an amazing observing session here in Monterey. The seeing condition was so good that Saturn's rings easily showed multiple annulars and significant shading could be seen on the planet itself. The Cassini divisin was a black, unwavering, pencil thin line all around the ring. Simply amazing for I had only 5" of aperture. The view I was getting today seem to have come from a much larger scope. What a difference seeing condition makes!

Yes.. totally agree!! My 6" Newtonian in Mersing perfrom like a 10" Teleport in Singapore! :D Nothing can replace a dark, clear and stable sky!!

Have a nice day.

No lah, the skies at Monterey is clear but no where as dark as Mersing. For truly dark skies, I intend to drive out to a star-party at Fremont Peak about 2 hours drive. Probably some time next month.
