Hi,
Super Clear Sky in Tampines... although seeing is not that good... twinkle twinkle little stars...
Too bad, I was too tired to bring out my equipment when I reach home... I think I'll get a camera tripod tomorrow to act as an Alt-Az mount for my Newtonian....
Enjoy the clear sky and have a nice day.

david lian and gang are at tuas now and they report good skies there too. that's the place where you can see the milky way on mainland singapore!
in anycase, I'm a little tired, so have to give the clear night a miss but hopefully all the other members here can make full use of it...

hehe, just woke up. yesterday night was damn gd. i can estimate at least mag 4+ skies at tuas with the moon out there. me, david and zhong hua(ryan) reach the ob site at ard 9pm+ and ob all the way till 12.30am(david have to fly off this morning, can't stay too late)
it seems that the place that we frequent has more and more streetlight turned on. but at the end of the stretch, the lights are still off. walking from the car to the actual obsite, roughly 50m was fun. the moment u walk past the lights, the stars in the skies doubled immediately.
as usual, the north skies weren't wonderful at that place, however the southern skies is a complete different story. carina was smiling at us when we reach there. u can see all the fuzzy patches glowing there.
we got our stuff setup and quickly took down a few of the common deep sky objects ard there. one of the most spectacular that night was omega centauri. david's c8 with the tak 30mm resolved the gobular cluster into thousands of stars, which is wat u usually see in the photos only. we spent some time drooling over it. i guess nothing much can make up for a really clear night.
someone suggested that there's something above omega centauri. we checked out the books, yep there's a galaxy by the name of ngc 5128. roughly mag 7 i think. hunted for it for a while and found it. i guess this is one of the easier galaxies to see in sg, go try it out.
list of objects taken down during the night, m6,m7,m8,m20,m21,ngc 5139,ngc5128,m62,m80,m4,m22,m28,m23, ngc 3372(eta carina),ngc 3532(southern pleiades), jup, moon.
Hi
That night was an outing without regret even though I had to do packing after mid-night just after the ob.Only slept less than three hours before boarding the plane.Tough day but it all worth it.
In clear sky I had resolved Omega Centuri at Tuas South a few times as just like that night.
Only problem with this place,it is getting light up as months passes by.
Hope we can enjoy a little more before it is all gone to street light.

Hi,
Where's this place in tuas you guys are talking about? -=)
Anyway, is there any way I can join one of your observing sessions? Never actually joined a stargazing session before .. =)
Hi,
If you live in the east side, you are welcome to join my observation session. I normally observe on friday/saturday night... too bad, the weather is very cloudy lately.
Have a nice day.

Sigh........ :?
Raining again ? Looks like tonite no obing?
Why the way Jermng dont be in a hurry to discard ur c60 I once used a wooden toy scope tripod to modify into one tat can allow the ETX60 to be mounted on. Thus I think ur toy tripod can hav some use.
