Sarimbun Scout Camp skies

Post by AGMI »

i just came back from a 4 day 3 night camp from sarimbun and what i can say about the skies is awesome..i didnt take a photo as cameras were not allowed in camp.. the visual magnitude goes down to 4.5-5 like that..scorpio was stunning .. u cannot enter the camp without permission though..(u wouldnt wanna..its one of the only other light polluting areas other that the kelong nearby) but there are roads around it..be prepared for a little trekking though. concrete unused roads with lalang all around with some forested sites.if u hungry, got wild mangoes, rambutans, durians, tapioca and a fiesta of other wild fruits..damn nice..u can also go down to the beach.. jus less that 2km away is mainland malaysia already.bus 975 goes there but got to trek in.. for drivers jus go into the gravel road. by the way DONT Go to the unused roads inthe weekday, they are used by the army for training.and if u want to get food, better prepare it early.the most convienient mrt is.....boon lay
or u can pluck fruits lah hehe..if u know how to go to sungei buloh or CCK cemetary, sarimbun is just furthur down.

heres the sarimbun maps:

(yes..sarimbun was a ww2 warsite)

the singapore map..u can compare it to the previous and see how close it is to malaysia
-last thing: BRING MOSQUITO repellant!!!!!! mosquitos grow to the size of houseflies there!! and its plain sick..in fall in position,i could actually feel the mosquite sting me as in really can feel the piercing..u dont want that..

thats all..in a nutshell, sarimbun is a really good place for astro and die to its location, wont be much affecte my jB or the casinoes..skyglow still moderately bad though but not as bad as in the middle..
