US$ Cheque

Post by ariefm71 »

Hi,

Can anyone advise if it is possible to cash a US$ cashier's check (a.k.a bank draft, issued by an american bank) in Singapore? I'm a bit green on this thing.

Thanks a lot!

hmm..most banks would allow bank draft in foreign currency, but issued by american bank i'm not too sure.

Arief, just deposit it into your bank account, it should be credited. That American Bank must have a correspondent bank in Singapore to transfer money to your POSB account or any other local bank. I think it works that way. If it's a Demand Draft there should not be any bank charges..if it's a cheque then there will be.
