I'm considering the purchase of a larger mount, maybe some time later in my life. purpose is mainly for astrophotograhy.
i'm looking at the losmandy gm8/g11 or the tak em11/em200. I would be getting either the gemini goto with the losmandy or the temma 2 jr with the taks.
However it seems that i have little knowledge when it comes to such big mounts, where few even owns it. I have seen both the gm8 and the g11, i can't really tell any difference between them other than the very obvious legs, and slight difference in the size of the mount head. however the specs shows that the g11 is way bigger than the gm8.
i have not seen the em11 either, but i guess the em10 should be quite close. i have heard of problems with the em10 so that worries me a little. the em200 doesn't seem to cost much more than the em11, but it seems that the loading capacity is much greater.
anyone have any experience with the 4 mounts? maybe can gif some advice.
i'm considering mounting 2 scopes side by side. losmandy offers a nice dual mounting system, which i think remus have it. any idea if the tak has such a system?

Mount question
this is what markus ludes said about em-10: http://www.astromart.com/forums/viewpos ... _id=335443
not aware of the problems with em-10 other than can not go to 0 lat (same as em-11, need to fabricate a custom mounting plate). can enlighten?

you can take a look at the GOTO mount article with comparison table & pics in the July issue of S&T magazine. (I can show you the magazine tomorrow.) The EM200 and G11 are not exactly lightweight or portable, and if you are considering those, you may also want to look at the WO GT1 and Vixen Atlux mount for their payload capacity. Maybe by the time you get the mount sometime later in your life, better alternative options may also have been available.
i'm very interested in the WO GT1 as well, just one problem, i can't seem to find any detail of it anywhere. anyone have any idea how much it would cost, do tell me about it.
between the g11 and the em200, i feel that the em200 would be much easy to handle and set up. the losmandy feels like so many parts.
oh ya, for those who have an idea how much these mounts would cost, it would be nice if u can tell me more about it.
ps:richard, bring me that magazine tml

For the GT mount, you can visit: http://www.astron.sh.cn/cgi-bin/topic.c ... 4&show=100 for some detail.MooEy wrote:i'm very interested in the WO GT1 as well, just one problem, i can't seem to find any detail of it anywhere. anyone have any idea how much it would cost, do tell me about it.

You should not rule out Paramount ME from Bisque, it's only a couple thousands USD more than the Taks (US$ 12,500.00 to be precised). It's for future what, can dream right? :-)i'm very interested in the WO GT1 as well, just one problem, i can't seem to find any detail of it anywhere. anyone have any idea how much it would cost, do tell me about it.

Btw, Grandeye got second hand GT-1 for sale. I'll probably come down to their shop next week, just to see see look look.
hmm..the em200 with temma2 jr is 3.8k usd, the legs another 500 usd. total is closer to 4.3k usd. the paramount ME is 12.5k usd. somemore the pier have to buy separately. more like 3x the price wor, but then it's still a few thousand dollars more
i would definately consider the paramount if i'm comparing the ap900, mi250 and the em500.
another problem that i'm concern with is whether the mounts are capable of working at the equator.
ps: thanks for the link to the gt-1, but i'm not very gd at reading chinese >.<

In my opinion, the EM-200 and G-11 are suitable to mount C9.25 and 5" APO. For the future telescopes, the G-11 can mount up to 25Kg. G-11 is poor in trace, if you want to take an astrophotography.ariefm71 wrote:get an em-10 first la, perfect for up to 5" apo or a c9.25. i'm selling mine for us$1200 only :-)
