hi i just got myself a telescope.. after a long time of thinking... so far i only managed to point it at the moon.. hehe im kinda frustrated coz the skies here in singapore is so bright!! and cloudy! i live in sengkang...

also any ideas how can i improvise a carrying case for the telescope? its a celestron powerseeker 114.. quite long...

let me guess, you got the telescope at AstroScientific?
thats a refractor so you can probably get great views of Jupiter and Mars these few months.

PS. unless i am mistaken, that refractor is squarish, right?

yeah thats where i got it from... i dont know of any other shops.. (after surfing the net)...

its a reflector... spec here...

the powerseek2 are the sqaurish ones, more of toys than real scopes. the powerseeker 114 looks like a decent entry level scope.

i'm not sure if u have any proper star charts and planisphere yet. u can go try downloading starry night digital download. should be roughly 30 days trial, but gd to play with.

u can go try looking at jupiter, it's a bright white dot overhead. if u are wondering which dot it is, just remember that planets dun twinkle whereas stars do.

there are some deep sky object u can try, maybe jewel box in crux would be a gd target. m7 in scorpius is quite nice too.

i have starry night pro version 5 already... hehe i managed to locate jupiter.. but hav been having cloudy days...

as for star charts/planisphere.. im still exploring starry night... cz i know it can print star charts for specific time...
