National Environmental Dark-Sky Day 2006

Post by NGC 5139 »

Dear all,

Is anyone interested in organising this event "National Environmental Dark-Sky Day 2006"? I will be coming up with a proposal shortly on how this day would be organised (hopefully). It does sound a little ambitious; it, if possible, would be modelled after the US National Dark-Sky week. Tentatively, the date proposed is somewhere in January 2006 if possible. Please refer to http://lightpollutionsg.tripod.com for more details.

Some ideas:
- Singastro members to set up telescopes at open fields near MRT stations?
- Volunteers needed to conduct talks on light pollution
=More volunteers needed to write in to the authorities and town councils
- Volunteers who have experience or know-how in architecture and design to come up with proposals for light-pollution free light fixtures.

It is a long, long list of things to be done, but together, the battle to reduce light pollution can be overcome :D.

Yours truly
