I have my own opinion about this, just want to check yours.
These two are relatively portable scopes (ruled out C9.25) with great optics and contrast at about the same price, which one will be a better planetary (visual only) scope for:
1. Singapore skies
2. Mersing skies
Undestand that cooldown may not be an issue here.

Hi,
For planetary observation, Mersing and Singapore skies doesn't make a big difference... what you need is good seeing only.
Quite hard to compare... but IMHO, the Intes Micro 703 Delux may have a slight advantage due to it larger aperture.
Have a nice day.

Heard from my Japanese friend who tried both C9.25 and Intesmicro M703, on planet the 7 inch IntesMicro is a tad better visually. (it may be that the C9.25 shows more sensitivity to scintillation than smaller M703), and also, the M703 beats his Televue NP101 easily (aperture always wins).
If you stick to refractor and dun want to exhaust your wallet, I'd recommend those with fewer objective elements, the focal ratio shall be 8~9 (for apo) or higher.

10" Telekit with Zambuto optics~TMB 152/1200 (construction)~Takashi Mewlon 210~TMB 80/600
No more C8 (for now) :-)
I'm actually leaning more towards M703 f/10 Deluxe, someone offered me his for US$1400. 4" of quality optics vs 7" of quality optics, aperture always wins. The 715 should be better for planets (25% CO, f/15) but render it unusable for deepsky and imaging. The 703 can use all SCT accesories (e.g. 0.63 & 0.33 reducers), and is within the limit of airline carry on...

Your ten-inch dobsonian must have done. 8-)ariefm71 wrote:i just want to beat your TMB 115 on planets while still saving US$1000 :-)and also, the M703 beats his Televue NP101 easily (aperture always wins).
Now the saved $1000 can be well spent on a set of TMB monocentric, all aim to the planetary...

do consider the Tak Mewlon series. either the 180 or you could go for the 210. No regrets. C9.25 has no room of comparison when it comes to contrast and sharpness. Only con is it is an open tube design, so do take care of the optics. Incidentally, it greatly helps in thermal cool-down anyway. The M180 is about the price of C9.25 new, or maybe even lesser. The M210 is close to S$4K but it will be a lifelong purchase for most visual observers!

Hi, Arief, did you receive the deluxe M703 at such good price? so temptingariefm71 wrote:No more C8 (for now) :-)
