Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
Went down to the Science Centre shop to take a look at the scopes.
OMG, the C6 Newtonian is huger than I expected. Surely cannot lug around.
But the C130 Mak is small and portable, so I guess the Skywatcher 127 should be around that size also. The C130 Mak is selling at S$1180 without GST and tripod (mount??) I wonder if they give discounts . OPTCorp is selling at US$699 including mount but excluding shipping. The Skywatcher 127 is selling S$900 w/o mount, S$1400 with mount (GST??) at McGills.
I have more or less decided on a Mak-Newt or a Mak-Cass. Just don't know which model
BTW, can I just get a camera tripod (Manfrotto??) and mate it to a OTA? Possible?
Last year ITE quoted me a MN66 the same price as they listed on the website, however the shipping charge is 250~300 USD and they need wire transfer. The good point is that the MNs seem readily in stock, they have MN66 in stock and ready to ship at that time.

I use a Sky-Watcher 6" F5 Newtonian which is same as the C6N... not as bad as you think... it is quite portable if you use a Alt-Az mount.

Forget about the C130... get the Sky-Watcher 127 MCT. Sky-Watcher 127 MCT is 100% a better choice than the C130.

If you think the 6" F5 (C6N) Newtonain is difficult to move around, forget about the MN56. Mak-Newtonian are normally F6 or slower, so they will be as long as the 6" F5 Newtonian if not longer.
Have a nice day.

I just find that ITE is offering Intes Micro 503 5" F/10 at US$700 in August. http://www.iteastronomy.com/products/clearance/
It accepts 2" accessories. So it give wider field than typical Maks do (I guess ) .
They are reliable, but they don't shipped to Singapore for most telescope. Not quite sure on the shipping cost, but some of the "old bird" should be able to answer it.
well i do know optcorp ships outta s'g

Arief
haha wishful thinking lah...he told me this one he is keeping unless and irresistible offer comes along. recently he even talked about buying a bino viewer for it....
but of course, people always change their minds!
rich
Yep, definately not selling it anytime in the near future
artemov : alas, I have recently 'retired' from my astro business, or else I would have been able to get the MN56 for you as I was a dealer for their products ... the MN56 I am using now was originally brought in for demo purpose soon after I got the dealership a couple of years ago ... but I fell in love with it after a while and decided to keep it for my personal pleasure ... Where do you live by the way ? If you are within convenient travelling distance to Toa Payoh Central, then maybe once I start organizing Toa Payoh Central Obs. again, you can drop by to take a look at it when I set it up downstairs.
