Meteors through eyepiece

Post by AGMI »

Just now at 9pm+ was looking at zenith somewhere (too clody to make out zodiac but lazy to find). Suddenly while using my 32mm ep, say one meteor zip through the FOV! Was temporarily stunned

is seeing meteors zipping through eyepieces rare?

Saw once at Tuas too.Very spectacular view shooting star at 100X.
At Tuas, also saw airline jet zoom past while looking at Jewel Box through the scope.

hehe, it's a common thing at tuas. the more interesting thing is a very slow moving satelite thru the eyepiece. me and joo beng has seen it at mersing. dunno if it's a bug in the eyepiece or some alien spacecraft flying ard.

I have seen a meteor once thru the eyepiece and have seen a few times satellite moving thru the eyepiece. Usually the satellites are seen moving during twilight and they move in a nonlinear fashion different from an aircraft. Also, they don't blink like normal aircraft with two blinking lights at the tip of the wingspans.

Yesterday night was not bad for AMK. When using 3" short tube with 15mm EP, I saw a satellite moving slowly across M7 toward Sagittarius around 10pm, trying to follow it but it went into cloudy area :(

The motion is smooth and graceful, with M7 as backdrop… beautiful :o .

Many times I have seen meteors passing across the eyepiece field of view, but twice I have seen meteors shoot directly at me thru the eyepiece!
