Worth buying the Meade AR5?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

cc/vin, why don't you consider a real 5" ED, like this http://www.astromart.com/classifieds/de ... _id=382035, i think he's willing to part with the OTA for $1400 (USD that is :-))

Umm...the thing is, I am not a refractor guy. I am an aperture guy.....but I just want a refractor for its contrasty images. Also, refractor easy for grab and go especially with Liu Ming's Giro mount.

So I am not going to spend $1400 on a refractor. A $400 one just for some variety still ok....because I doubt I will be using it much anyway......

still asking. Will let you know. Buy together maybe even cheaper.

I owned a 120mm before so roughly I know what to expect. Images in refractors are always very clean.....infact, so far, only the images in the Portaball beats them all.

That portability factor seems to be true, as even the FS-102 and the TMB-115 can be used on the Astroslew without any counterweight.

The 127 f/6.5 is going to be heavier than that two.

The TMB-115 ota alone is already 8kg. How heavy is the 127 f/6.5?
