Hi Chris,
I can only be there at about 8pm. Where do I set up my scope? Will there be enough parking spaces as I won't want to be dragging the scope hundreds of metres. Is it possible to send an email about the event details? Thanks.

Hi everyone,

Mars Watch 2005 planning has been progressing just fine and everything is in place (or coming together).

Because of the wonderful support of the RP and SP astronomy clubs (thanks Geraldine, Jin Peng and Mooey), this event has become bigger and better than I ever hoped. Already, many school clubs and many individuals have indicated their interest in being part of this event, and it promises to be an enjoyable evening. (Please hope for good weather, both at RP and on Mars as well!)

As it stands, Mars Watch 2005 is being geared up as a public outreach event. Invitations have been sent out to the schools, and information has been posted on forums etc., and we are trying to get some publicity in the media (thanks Airconvent, Mooey). Please continue to spread the word so that any friends who might be interested in astronomy can come and learn about astronomy from you.

As we are gearing it as a public outreach event, it would run officially for the public from 7pm to 11pm. After 11pm, the public should thin down, leaving only the people who are planning to stay the night. There is no telling how many people will be there. Hopefully there will be 150 people at least but we are prepared for much more. As such, it is requested that the scope volunteers be present from 7pm to 11pm.Everyone is welcome to stay on after that to continue observation.

4 talks will run on the hour, and there will be 10 posters on astronomy and 4 posters and Mars, and 2 vendors will set up booths.

All the information regarding Mars Watch 2005 is here and is up-to-date: http://www.singastro.org/viewtopic.php?t=2649

Singastro volunteers coming down with scopes, please read this thread for you: http://www.singastro.org/viewtopic.php?p=18535#18535

hi chris,
very paiseh mostly reading rather than helping. if you need help any of the nights till Sat, please let me know. its the kids exams still but I can spare a night ot 2 to assist if we meet later. and of course, we appreciate your efforts as well as the many un-named people who are hard at work in the background making things work. good work to all!

I only hope the media appreciate this effort. so far no response from them.
As an informal group, Singastro's media pull may not be as strong as TASOS who has been their main astro feed all these years but I'm sure if Republic Poly officially writes to the media, they are likely to be more receptive...
keeping our fingers crossed that we will get at least a small mention under the "Home" section of the ST..or minimum an honorable mention in the Events column of the Life section...heh heh

wah...that would be a dream come true for me to try an "i" series but unfortunately, I can only be there around 9-10pm as I am attending my kid's concert performance...if you still need my help at that time, then likely I will not bring my C5 and play with your N5 instead...saves the hassle of contantly "tracking". (there seems to be alot of C5 there on that night. ).
do let me know .
cheers
