Help needed - from those who have done it

Post by Paradigm_sg »

I am using a EOS300D camera and C5 telescope. Was trying to take a picture of the moon last night using a deluxe tele-extender. When I am using a 30mm lens, I could see the image thru the viewfinder of my camera but when I switch to a 9 mm, I can only see a multicoloured-pixelled light source. No matter how much I try to focus, it just would not focus to an image ... Not the first time already. Previously, I was using a C8 with another lens also same problem.

was it due to the exit pupil of my lens being too small?

Thanks in advance :)

Your 9mm eyepiece eye relief may be too short. For eyepiece projection to work correctly, you need a relatively long eye relief eyepiece. Generally speaking, the shorter the eyepiece focal length, the shorter the eye relief, unless you get those long eye relief eyepiece. Try using a barlow instead of a shorter focal length eyepiece if you don't have a long eye relief eyepiece.

Have a nice day.
