I used to subscribe to Sky and Telescope. The magazine is good and informative... but most of the time the astronomy events described in Spore can't be seen due to bad weather.. and there are those countless ads that make my mouth water but I can't afford them... haa. So the best solution was to stop subscribing to control this urge and not feel so 'pek chek' that all those astronomy events can't be seen.

Another good magazine is "Temmon Guide" in Japanese. They have very detailed test reports and prompt reports of DSLRs and new Japanese scopes. As usual, a lot of temptations are there :) The January issue has the short report on Nikon d200. It shows a lot of amp glows all around. I think you can subscribe at Kinokuniya.

my vote: S&T.

for the intermediate to advance amateur astronomer, the magazine offers better and more enriching articles than competing magazines. however, equipment reviews can sometimes be a little skewed, so ultimately, you have to make your own choice or gather more information before choosing a piece of equipment to buy. image production is a tad better and more consistent too. and the gallery seeks to have a refreshing change in pictures most of the time. however, the sky maps featured IMHO are not as good as those maps given back in the early 1990s and before. still enjoyed the older format better. the current ones seemed to have a "hand drawn" effect. and yes, not forgetting the enticing ads.
two cents!

Ah, my pet gripe.....I find that S&T has gone downhill over the years. Technical content has been lowered - seems to be trying to compete with Astronomy magazine. There are still some good articles on imaging, however. The reviews are appalling - almost worse than useless - they don't want to offend their advertisers.

Go well!
