Can the Minus V filter be used for anything else?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Can the Minus V filter be used for anything else?

Post by jermng »

Hi,
I've got a Minus Violet filter that came with my WO Megrez. Anyway, I dun really dig the view through it on things like the moon - it kinda makes it look unnaturally(is there such a word?) yellow for my taste.
So, question is, can the minus V filter be used for anything else? Like bringing out the details in certain planets or other objects? Or is it strictly just to remove the violet in achro refractors?

Just Curious. =)

Get a baader moon and skylight filter and then stack it with the WO MV filter. You get less purple but got back the natural colour

I'm also thinking of getting one of this filter to use with my WO VR-1. I also don't like the yellowish moon produce by the WO VR-1 filter.

Have a nice day.

Must it be Baadar? Can other moon and skylight filters work?
Btw, skylight filter - is it the broadband LPR filter or the 1A UV filter? (Sorry, I'm not good with these stuff.)

Oops, I'm sorry, just did some reading up of my own on baader's filters - did you mean the Neodymium Moonglow&Skyglow filter?

Btw, interesting note - search for baadar (with the "a" instead of "e" at the end) on google - which I mistakenly did - and Singastro is the 3rd site listed! =) hee
