you can try the william optics zenithstar 66 series from mcgill or the Orion ED80...both are selling for less than $1000.,

Astrobargains brought in the Celestron 80ED for me. Same optics as the Orion / Skywatcher 80ED but in a sleeker black. Please note that the Celestron 80ED has the rack and pinion focuser and not the Crayford found in the other 2.

Ask JB if he can get it in cheaper than the Orion 80ED.

hmm regarding Astrobargains, the price we buy from them is it around the price we buy overseas + shipping to spore?

Astrobargains sells them cheaper. His price is competitive to the USA prices just that you don't have to ship it to Singapore which will add a lot more cost.

Err...I won't presume that all the time. Just do your own sums and come to your own conclusions.

If the prices are competitive, I try to support our local vendors.

Sometimes the local price is the same as if you order from US and add the shipping charges, with some minor additional charge of $10-20. I would still buy local in such cases as there is less uncertainty (lost shipment, damaged shipment, etc), I can inspect before I buy, and I do not have to wait 1 - 2 weeks.

If the difference is more than 50% of the price, then I will take the trouble to order overseas.

Cheers!
