Hi,
Just wanted to ask, is M47 viewable with binos under Spore skies? In pretty light polluted area - street lights and stuff around ....
I realised alot of stuff that books say are naked eye and binocular viewable are actually not do-able in Singapore. =( Good example is M45(Pleaides), alot of places refer to it as naked eye, but I need at least a 7x35 to see if from where I live ... argh ...
M47 in Binos under Spore Skies?

M45 is definitely naked eye in sg, if you find a good dark spot even first timers manage to make out 6 or 7 stars (without me telling them how many they're supposed to see!) of course need good eyesight as well cos i usually make out a fuzzy patch >.<
i dont remember if i've tried M47 with binocs before, but i think should be able to make out in sg too..

Hi,
Hmm... may be you didn't look at the right direction?? If the sky is clear, I think you should be able see M45 using nake eye in most area in Singapore as long as your surrounding got no very very bright light.

Have a nice day.

Hee hee ... went to East Coast Park just now for a pretty long ob with Binos .. still can't see M45 naked eye .... then I pointed my Binos up .. and there they were ... same case with my friend. =) Might be becos it was already almost setting so the skyglow was covering it ... I'll try again earlier in the night this weekend.
Anyway, I think I found M47 with my 20x80s and then could make it out with 12x50 after I knew where they were. =) But I'm not ENTIRELY sure it really is M47 .. hee hee ...
Saturn with M44 was such a majestic beauty!! FOV helps! Oops .. am I getting off topic? Anyway, just let me say that Binos can do wonders! =)
