Sky Atlas

Post by jermng »

Hi,
I'm just wondering if there's a Sky atlas that plots stars up to 10 or even 12th magnitude and where I can get it? It's gonna cost a BOMB isn't it?? :)
I know there might be posts that are gonna ask why I need so much detail or so many stars, well, let's just say I'm greedy!!

HAHA ... No, actually, I wanna do a little survey and study on different skies and sky conditions and need a more detailed chart than what I already have with a 6.5mag Bright Star Atlas and tiny(physical size) 8.5mag(I can't remember exactly, can someone confirm) Peterson Field Guide to the Stars and Planets. :)

On that note, I read somewhere that SkyAtlas 2000 covers stars to 8.5 mag. Can I confirm that with users here? Anyone knows where is the best/cheapest place to get it in Singapore? (Open to shipping it in if cost+shipping is considerably less than local)

Thanks for looking!

Peterson's Field Guide charts stars to 7.0 mag.

Sky Atlas 2000 2nd ed. goes to 8.5mag, which is good enough for starhopping thru the 8" scope. I once put up for sale at $20 for the deluxe version on Singastro but no one was interested then, now it is sold. You can get it from Astro-Sci which is priced at about $90+ for the deluxe version and less for the desk/field version. It would cost similarly at Borders, if available.

If you really want 10-12mag, better print out finder charts from one of the various softwares.
