Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
Went down to astro scientific to do collimation. Was quoted between $250 to $280. Why is it so expensive when the binocualrs is not even nitrogen filled.
the binocualrs is a docter optics 30 x 80mm.
how much is the cost of collimation actually. for this price, i can even get a new binocualrs already.
How much did you pay for the 30x80? If not too much, you really should consider doing it yourself ....
btw, you should check out some of the articles on the net bout bino collimation. What we normally call collimation - by adjusting the prisms - is actually just prism re-alignment. Even if the image becomes "one" in the end, you might end up with "cat-eyes" in your exit pupil .. leading to light loss between 5%-20%. True collimation is by adjusting the objective lenses but normal binos do not allow this to be done by the consumer.
Just my 2 cents - some of the more experienced guys might wanna chime in ....
