Yah, just heard about the S$170k price tag last night... so sianz... (must buy more lottery + TOTO) I know the price will sure drop in the future... but not sure if I'll still be breathing by then...
WHY and WAT makes the cost of travelling up so much? It says that one craft can port 5 ppl... S$170k x 5 ppl = S$850k per trip. It's really expensive... I hope there'll be "economy flight".

yeah heard about it too. i think the spaceport project will be something like the 1 in Seattle spaceport. saw it in TV. where they show case all the rocket, space shuttle, experiments, n other space stuff. looks quite interesting. anyway wonder if Singapore government is interested in turing it into like Houston city or seatle where they get to c rocket launch every now n then. sure to attract regional tourist!!!!!!!

Matthew, the Moscow system is different. No GEMS (good service), no Singapore girl stewardess, no GST, no 1st class airport to depart from, got smoking section and can bring gun aboard ... that's why only USD$5-8k.
HAHAHAHHA ... .
Yeah, I was trying to find the $170k price too, can;t seem to find it ...

USA got another "budget" spaceport ---Virgin Galactic operating with Burt Rutan's SpaceShipOne. at USD190 000 you get "three-day experience" for the suborbital flight -- down to the on-board song that will be played at the trip's arc (Space Oddity by David Bowie). "[The experience] will be like camp" says a Virgin official, where all tourists will be housed, fed, and trained in the same "deluxe" complex.

Don't think this can really be a launchpad to go space.. more like space training and tourist attractions related to going into space. The debris isn't really an issue because they're setting up in Changi and most probably flying in the direction of the sea, but a bigger problem is how they're actually gonna make a launchpad... Launchgrounds like Kennedy and Florida are a few times the area of Singapore, even though they are launching much bigger things and have more than one launchpad.
