ah...no wonder it sounded so familiar...problem with me is if I am not looking for that item, it goes into the attic in my brain! thanks for the tinker.
that means the astroslew would have been good but too heavy duty for my needs...
I was looking at this one

it was touted as lightweight professional and only weighs 3 kg!

Hi Rich 1, from your postings, it seems like you want a tripod that weighs less than 1.9kg, can carry 5kg (or more) without problem and cost less than $179.

If you can find one that meets all your three criteria, that would be very ideal! Please let me know because I would also wanna buy that.

oh no....I want a light tripod (less than 3Kg) probably rated at 2-3kg but will bear about 2 kg of 410 and 1.7 kg of scope with some vibration...OR come with a ball head that is suitable for manual goto..... budget is less than $200...so that includes any tripod that cost a little more than 055...
heh heh..
btw, i took a look at the manfrotto 714B..looks promising..but CP does not stock them though..

I came across this while looking for a tripod for my small refractor.

This mount is supposed to be even cheaper than in the US but still cost $650. Anyone can elaborate on why it so expensive/cheap? the link seemed to suggest that its actually a televue mount!

The image is not very clear but it looks like it has no slow-mo control and head to mount a refractor although the info link says there is.

Can I assume we are supposed to move the scope like a dob in which case balance would be important? and because there is an eyepiece holder in the centre, the packed assembly would be a long package and the eyepiece holder stored separately?
Would this have performed better than a 410head+ 190D combination?
I think it also need tube rings....

Here is more info:

Hi Rich

this showed mount "Porta" have as explicated in both axis a slowmotion control. I recomand this mount to use it with easy scopes like ED refractors or small MCs/SCs. The price for this mount here in Europe is some near by 330 Euro wich is near 360 $.
