Where to print digital photos?

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Where to print digital photos?

Post by chrisyeo »

Decided to post this under the astrophotography section because this applies to digital astrophotos as well:

I've been trying to print some digital photos, and I've tried both Kodak and Fujifilm digital prints, but the colour reproduction always turns out unsatisfactory. There's something about the prints that make them unnatural compared to normal film prints. The highlights seem washed out and the colours look reduced. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Can anyone suggest where I can get digital prints done with good colour reproduction, for normal digital as well as astrophotos? Or is there anyway to work around this?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi,
Most of the time, I find it ok... Hmm... may be the colour calibration of your screen is off??

Or may be you should try those shop that will adjust the colour of your image...

Have a nice day.

Chris,

You may want to try Astro Imaging Centre @ Lakeside MRT station #01-02. It's owned by Albert Lim.

Arief

PS: They have a website, www.astroimagingcentre.com, but currently down.

It is no longer there already... it had move to: 21 Ghim Moh Road #01-215 Singapore 270021. You can look for Kim mum and I think he'll help you to adjust your photo... Telephone number is 62197460.

Have a nice day.

If you are particular about colour, you may wish to find a shop where you can specify that they can turn off the auto-colour correction.

I managed to print my photos the way I want in the end, by telling them to switch off the auto-correct. Only thing is that images are slightly brighter on the laptop screen then on photo, so I'll need to push it up a little.

Cheers,
Chris
