Sad to say, but such a location does not exist.

Tekong chalet got much darker skies, but still affected by light pollution from mainland. Can see the denser and brighter parts of the milkyway though, weather permitting.

there's this golf course on mount kinabalu, it features:
http://www.malaysiahotelreview.com/attr ... u-golf.htm
- a big carpark infront of the club house (may need to ask the guard to switch off the few lights in front of the club house.)
- nightime temperature 15-20degc
- no mossy
- no street lights in or around the area
- no residential houses near by.
- only slight skyglow from the nearby agricultural village of kundasang http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kundasang
- mesilau resort is a nice place to stay 10 minutes away by car http://www.suterasanctuarylodges.com.my/mesilau.htm
- eating steamboat dinner in restaurant there in that cold temperature is really nice.

ya, it's a long way from you. but i suspect there may be something similar in west malaysia.

You miss out something. The ideal place should not have mosquitoes too!

That to me is the most irritating.

You forget to mention the extremely high humidity and cloud cover ... after 4pm ... :)

Just got back from KK ... everywhere out of the City is dark!!! HAHA ... I was driving 10m from the sea and I didn't know it was the sea ... HAHA ... skies are black!!!! :) When it was cloudy, the only way I could tell was cos there were no stars that night .. not like Spore when you can see the red clouds ... :)
The other good thing is, can see horizon to horizon ... one side is the South China Sea, the other is low lands up to the Crocker Range ... which is very far away if you're not near KK. :) No HDB flats or high rise buildings ... :)
