yes I know....seems like Celestron's response to the highly successful william optics APO range..I don't doubt Meade will be in on the act soon...
when i did posted a question on the WO forum to talk about the differences, I get the feeling WO was quite annoyed that I even suggested the comparison...heh heh
it seems the market now is like the movie industry. hit ona formula and everyone jumps in. its the same for the Orion ED80. Celestron has a response to that too.....

Meade is coming up with their own line of APOs in about a month or two. They've got their APOs up to 5".
Maybe a revival of their old ED line many years back ... at the back of EVERY issue or S&T magazine in those days.
Anyone remember the 7" Meade ED? hee hee ....
