Science Centre may take back Astro-Scientific shop space

Post by Airconvent »

Hi fellas,
Heard from Albert today that Astro Scientific's rental contract is up in the next few months and Science Centre has informed him they may not renew it pending a study into altenate uses (think souvenir shop for omni-theatre?) .

Albert has indicated his options included moving the shop elsewhere or simply closing it down.

I for one would be sad to see it go. Such a nice cosy shop with so many scopes on display and lots of stuff available...Let's hope they stay put. Their prices have been a main complaint here but of late, they have been bringing them down and some of the packages are not too badly priced as noted by weixing...

Hmm.. if there is a closing down sale, I will be the first to queue at the door!

by the time you arrive, there would be about 60-80 people in the queue in front of you! and you will see me in position 1 with poncho, tent and 3- day rations.

I hope that they stay too, as it is a convenient place to go to (for people like me with no car). His alternative location (if still the same one he is thinking of shifting to) is abit inconvenient, although it will look big and impressive.

I heard they're gonna do online sales too .. hee hee .. more convenient, no need to leave the house. If you wanna touch/see the scopes, that's a different story .. hee hee ...
But if they're gonna do online sales, prices gotta match other online vendors local and overseas, if not, without their personal/expert advice/service from the shop front, no real incentive to buy from them anymore. :) I think Spore Astro market gonna look interesting real soon. :)

jeremy,

Noticed you have a 80mm Megrez SD. How much did you buy? Does it come just the OTA?

Why? I can volunteer to do another extra in-camp this year, get paid, free food, free combat ration, away from work, and best of all - free physical training!

How much for the ground sheet?

I guess they may be moving out to another site with lower rental.

The Megrez is no longer available locally but McGill is stocking the newer Zenithstar 80 (just arrived as I heard from them). Their prices are very attractive. You can check with Robin Low on this. I nearly bought it but eventually upgraded my choice...heh heh
