Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
Jeremy, the reply was from Liuming, I haven't made any comments yet. Liuming, it's time to change your avatar (how about the AP starfire on Astroslew pic? should be fine with Anat )
Jeremy, your 7mm Ortho just came yesterday, pls collect from me during the weekend @ Bedok.
cheers,
Arief

OK, I changed my avatar, now it is unique for me (or david )
In fact, it is not necessary to learn too much about APO basic; nowadays when one is familiar with the lens design software, he may create a number of perfect APO lens in few days. But in the real world, the true good apo makers are few, I have seen a no-brand 90 mm fluorite apo with very good color correction however very poor image quality. (poor figuring?)
The opinion from a friend changed my mindset a lot last year, he suggested "If you need a small aperture "grab-and-go", don't choose a mediocre optics. Otherwise you lose both! (aperture and optical quality)" (sorry for my poor Chinese to English translation )

The difference between Megrez and ZS is only the tube. I used to have a WO/TMB megrez for a couple weeks I think that the white tube gets dirty more easily. And the white paint is less resistant to scratching than the anodized surface. If you want the red scope, you may need to be quick since a few of them are left.
If you don't want the red color or don't want to spend that much, you may buy a ZS achromat. You can upgrade to the FD in the future. And the total cost is more or less the same.

Last night the air was quite stable, I observed Juipter with your ex-TV85. At 200X mag. the very pale GRS and a shadow transit stood out boldly. even my wife was impressed. thanks for the good deal and I look forward to testing it with Rlow's WO FD on weekend.

Liu Ming, I was observing Jupiter over the last 2 nights. Very stable air. GRS was very clear and so were other white spots, bands and whirls. Also saw the transit. For the first time, I tried the 3" off-axis mask which came with the teleport. At 250x, the image was noticeably dimmer and softer (of course) but a surprisingly lot of detail was still noticeable. I think a comparison of the masked teleport to the 80+mm apos will be quite interesting. Pity I don't have the WO FD anymore.
Hi, Elton. thanks for the interesting test. The masked Teleport is like a 3 inch f/17.0 super apo except that the light is reflected. If tonight's weather is OK, I will test it against Mewlon 210 to see how big the aperture difference is. (the Tak hasn't received light from Jupiter yet )
CC, I will let you know the results on Jupiter and I do hope it is a win-win test for both TV and WO.
