It appears in some telescope marketing studies that there is a marked increase in sales of refractors for both amateur and tertiary observatories.
More observatories in Hawaii are switching from 14" Cass to 8" apos...due to digital imaging and ease of publishing.
Guys, better hang on to your refractors as its value is increasing...
looks like curry pots are getting out of favour...
So, is it right that, the old saying of "in any case, astronomy, apertures always rules"?

Hi,
Have a nice day.
I don't think so... the rules is still the same... larger aperture = brighter image = better resolution. If you want to see dimer object, you need the large aperture.Guys, better hang on to your refractors as its value is increasing...

I think andrew also got a Meade 6" refractor...btw, i think Kochu got the largest refracter around c6r...right?
Have a nice day.

if you see the prices of WO in the January issue of S&T compared with now,
you will know that they have slashed their prices and appear to have booming sales due to it. that is why Celestron and Meade are coming in....
btw, here is WO's reply to a post I asked about the Celestron scope :

Just wanted to clarify that it is NOT the same optics! I know it has
been said time and again, but always better to give a reminder so that
no misunderstandings arise...
Any comparisons are most welcome!

I got a feeling that they are not interested to entertain Asians, especially when they already have a long queue from their own people.
