CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
Hey guys, since there was mention about a collimation saviour, debate about C8s and a photo of Jupiter today, I thought I'd share a photo taken last week through my C8 just after collimation by a certain "saviour."
I'm not sure, but this might have made him consider an SCT .. HAHA ... Photo was taken with a Toucam and Ultima Barlow direct into an f/10 C8 on a G11. The whole thing was taken by THE man - settings, processing etc. I was just in charge of bringing the scope and turning the focus knob.

THE man is THE man, experience counts. So Jeremy, when will it be your turn?
Qn: Can you take a pict of your (modified) Toucam? I've never seen it in action before. I always see the pict in the Net. What's the eyepiece you used?
Thanks.
Frankly. a well collimated c8 is really a big bang for the buck....
For this kind of serious astro work , remember one even had tp pay close to 2K...couple of years back when i started.
Remus collimated it right ?, jeremy.
Great details.
i attached a Jupiter i did with mewlon 210 and acuter ccd....
( not meant to hijack your thread...)
using registax2, realised mewlon great for planetary too, and also with very minimum CA with norminal mag.

As i did not track the image, i my stack is only about 100 images starting form one corner of the image to the other corner diagonally, attached another image after editing....
i notice that my GRS is not red too....( got to work on my editing again )

Hi all,
As per my previous posts, do also upload the raw image so that we can do a comparison on what the ccd saw and what registrax did...
Good effort Jeremy. Tachyon has to rent an overseas remote scope for his projects and you did better by "renting" a local "walking astro-imager" package!

Hay, great pictures Jeremy & CheeYiun. Whish I could joint the business end of photography like you guy soon. Lot of inertia though; time, money, and procastination.
