My first Saturn image taken through my new telescope !

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Hi mrngbss,
I bought it at Popular bookstore, Majestic branch (above Chinatown MRT). It was like 2 or 3 years ago.

I don't know if there are any more of these available. But they do have good chinese books on astronomy (and astrology... so be careful when you pick the books!)

Hi,
You can go the chinese book store in bras basah complex to find it... all my chinese astronomy book and magazine I purchase when I just start off astronomy during my school time are from there, but paper quality wasn't that good.

Have a nice day.

Hi mrngbss,
For your reference, here is a scan of the Hongkong planisphere and the Chinese translation of Seiza Zukan by Akira Fujii

Hi boothee,
Which method of photography did you use? Prime focus? Eyepiece projection? Afocal imaging?

Do you need to modify webcam electronics? How long exposure time do you need for a picture like the ones you took?

:)

Hi boothee,
nice saturn image, but it seems to be lacking in blues. maybe you can adjust colour balance and a little more saturation in PS. You could also brighten up the entire profile of the planet by using curves in PS as well. Nevertheless, keep up the good work! Try working on a higher effective focal ratio as well, if your mount and scope can take it. cheers!

Hi Alvin,

I used prime focus method for all of my images.

No modifications made on my web cam. Just took out the original lens and connect the web cam to telescope using my homemade adaptor.

The Webcam that I'm using now cost around US$ 20.00 only. Quality is also not so good. I bought that webcam for my first try at astrophotography. Now I'm very happy even with that camera. I'm going to buy a better webcam very soon.

I'll try to modify webcam one day when I have driven mount. :)

:)
