Another superbly clear nite!

Post by acc »

The sky was superbly clear early this morning after 1am here in southern Singapore. And the sky this morning was so clear and B L U E!! Had a short but satisfying observing session but unfortunately have to work today. Was anyone else out observing as well? Hopefully there will be clear skies over the weekend for a session at Dempsey...

cheers

yeah absolutely man.. just finished my A levels yesterday, came back at 3 am and found the sky clearer than i have ever remembered seeing it! went straight back out and was observing till nearly 6am when big clouds started to come in..
and i'm not an expert but i think the seeing was pretty good too.. stars were not flickering much at all and the planets were just amazing in my etx 125! some cloud belts and the division in saturns rings were visible and i saw jupiter for the first time too.. jupiter was a real treat, it looked alot better than i thought i would be able to get from my etx. from my count i could see 8 cloud belts.. i think i could have gone up to higher powers but in my 6.4mm everything was very fuzzy.. maybe it was too much power but i suspect something is wrong with it.. anyway, thats my report for last night, hope we get more nights like this soon!

Hi,
I think my assumption is correct: A clear night alway follow by a raining day(s)... hope that saturday night will be clear... :(

Indeed, awoke to the incredibly blue skies this moring and pointed it out to the family. We were quite amazed. Sorry I was not as enthusiastic as Mr Dew, observing from 3 to 6 am. Puts me to shame!

Let's hope for a repeat performance of these skies very soon.

Go well!

haha, no no man.. i dont think its my enthusiasm or age that made me be able to stay up from 3-6.. more like nearly 3 MONTHS of not observing and being pent up doing hard core studying.. now that exams are over, it time to party! star party i mean!

thats right! i understand what Dew is going through! I just finshed my A's too on thurs so oberserving was definitely a MUST after all the studying and all! Was very impressed with the magnificent skies and had very clear view for both north, south and east skies! Many of the obejects were clear and crips! Had a fun time with Jupiter and Saturn early into the morning. My oberservation was from 3-5am. But sadly had to stop at 5+ as all the big clouds started flowing in!
